With just one week to the primary election, I have been both humbled and proud at the excitement our campaign continues to generate. Your outstanding fundraising efforts in recent weeks have allowed us to develop our first television ad of the campaign, which will be airing extensively throughout Lansing over the next few days, right into Tuesday's primary.

This afternoon, before friends, family and supporters at the Letts Community Center, I formally announced my candidacy to become the next Mayor of my beloved City of Lansing. Let there be no doubt: I am in this race to stay, and I am in this race to win!
My friends, Lansing is currently at a crossroads. Our population is shrinking, our schools are struggling, our tax base is eroding, our automotive jobs are leaving, our crime rate is increasing, our public golf courses are closing and our overall quality of life is declining. I am running for Mayor not for the glory of the position, but simply because I want to make Lansing better.
